Kelly Van Gogh Hair Color Review and Giveaway
Kelly Van Gogh is not your ordinary celebrity colourist. From the age of 18, Kelly has developed products for some of the biggest name in the industry. After seeing a trememdous nned for a much better hair colour and knowing that clients needed a more intelligent option rather than spending thousands of dollars a year in the salon. Van Gogh traded her colour brush for a lab coat, graduated from Columbia University with a background in chemistry and developed her current breakthrough formulas while working in the lab on campus.
So what makes kelly Van Gogh so unique? Kelly's formulas don't just cover up a problem with the hair, they correct it. The more you use Kelly Van Gogh Colour and Support, the better your hair will be. That is why it is a better hair colour. No other colour line can say that. Kelly Van Gogh strengthens the hair with evey use.
Now onto my review...
Before I got started, I read Kelly's 12 Things to Know Before Coloring your Hair. This is a definite must read before coloring your hair.
The color I chose was Light Cool Brown. Even though I wanted it darker, I always choose a lighter shade..just in case. Come on ladies, you know how you want that gorgeous chocolate brown color but it comes out black???!!! EEEKKK, boy do I hate that. Anyway, so yea, I went with a lighter color.
Ok, I have to admit that the color did come out darker than what is indicated on the box BUT it did come out to the exact color I had been trying, for years, to achieve! The color was gorgeous! It was muli-demensional and super shiny. Let me tell you, this hair color is awesome! It does NOT, read my words, DOES NOT smell like your traditional hair color. It smells fabulous. My daughter kept smelling my hair and was so shocked by how it didn't smell horrible! The reusable applicator bottle is a little awkward when trying to mix the creme color and developer. What I do love about it is that you are able to separate and lift sections of hair with it. That is definitely nice bonus. The creme color is super thick and a little hard to get out of the tube. To me, though, that is minor compared to results you get. I have long hair, past my bra strap, and there was enough color to cover my entire head of hair. My one and only complaint, is that it did not completely cover my grays. Although I only have maybe 5 silver stands of hair, I still would like for them to blend in with the rest of my hair. All in All, on a scale of 1-10, I would rate this product an 8. Only an 8 due to not completely covering my grays...that's it!
One thing, too, is that the haircolor is not like your typical drugstore haircolor. It has like a gritty feeling to it. It's really strange, but hey...it works!

My thoughts: After a month, the color has held extremely well. Just be careful what color you chose because if it's too dark, you will be stuck with it for a while!
