Tig's Backyard presents Chick-A-Dee, Chick-A-Doo Review and Giveaway *CONTEST OVER*

I was given the opportunity to review the children's book called Chick-A-Dee Chick-a-Doo.

I had my 2 oldest girls sit down with my baby girl and read to her.  I must say that my baby girl loved the book.  She may only be 18 months, but she sat there and listened to her older sisters read and she smiled the whole time.

After they were finished reading, my baby girl carried the book around with her for what seemed like hours!

The book was written by Candy Brown and the Illustrations were done by Hector Lopez.  I love that it is a simple learning book that is so very easy to understand and the illustrations are bold and clear.  The pages are super thick, which is great for the younger readers. I love the story behind the whole line (which includes clothes)!   This is from the website

"We were preplexed when trying to buy eggs from a no-kill farm and we could not find one! We decided to buy our own chickens and that's why the Hoot and Doodle characters are alive and well & living in Oklahoma! That's right! Sitting in the backyard with our coffee in the mornings, we were so amused by their antics and personalities, we felt compelled to write books about their funky little way of life."

"These chickens, and their feathered friends, were the inspiration behind the whole Hoot & Doodle line of books and clothes. And Tig, well Tig is alive and well and living in Oklahoma too! These unusual "pets" have so much character!"

"Then we thought, why not take it one step further and make cool little clothes for the kids to enjoy their favorite characters throughout the day! After making a few samples, the author tried the products out on her grand kids and voila - Hoot & Doodle were launched!"

"We hope your kids enjoy the stories and apparel as much as the kids we know do!"

Honestly, I think my 13 year old loved the book just as much as her baby sister did!

All in all, this is definitely a good "first book" for your toddler.  Simple with a sweet little ending.  Your toddler will love it just as much as mine does!

Don't you think this would make an awesome Christmas present, birthday present, or just an "I love you" present for the little one(s) in your life?  Whether it be your precious child or grandchild, this book is sure to please!

Sitting in a Tree (Hoot & Doodle)You can purchase both books at Amazon.com OR you can WIN one! ONE lucky ready is going to win a copy of Hoot & Doodle Sitting in a Tree, just in time for Christmas! This contest will be open to the US and Canada only and will end on November 9, 2011.  Good luck to all who enters!

I just learned that it's hard to find a no kill egg farm. I'm both surprised and not, on one hand, there are so many vegetarians who don't want to buy milk and eggs from farms that kill animals that there should be farms like that. On the other hand old chickens are just not as profitable, they don't lay as many eggs and eat just as much feed.
